LEARN HOW TO SEARCH THE RYERSON INDEX
Looking for a recent death notice or obituary in Australian Newspapers ?
341 Newspapers with almost 7 million entries  1803 - 2019
  • The Ryerson Index is a free index to death notices in Australian newspapers from 1803 to the present, including funeral notices, and some probate notices and obituaries.
In this interactive talk John will demonstrate the features of the website.

Australian Free Settlements in the 1820s
  • Free settlements founded in Australia in the 1820s, a decade of expansion in Australia, were in Western Australia, Northern Territory, Queensland and Victoria. John’s talk will mainly focus on those settlements that failed – Melville Island (1824), Westernport, Vic (1826) and Raffles Bay , NT (1827).

John Graham has been actively involved in genealogy since he started researching his own family in 1975.
He has written five books on aspects of local history, and co-authored a sixth.

From 1998 until 2005 John was head of the Sydney Dead Persons Society, during which time the DPS founded the Ryerson Index. John is currently President of Ryerson Index Inc.

Since retiring after a 40-year career in IT, John is now a full-time genealogist, speaking regularly to a wide variety of audiences.   Website: Voices from The Past
