Developing a DNA Research Plan
& Organising Results Having a plan and being organised is necessary in any genealogical research and DNA testing is no exception. Determining the question, the DNA test most appropriate for the problem, analysing the results are all necessary steps for any DNA research whether looking for unknown parentage or to determine where an unknown match may fit into your family. GedMatch - Genesis
GEDmatch is a powerful third party tool that can be used in addition (not instead of) the tools already available at your DNA testing company site for analysing autosomal DNA results. It accepts DNA result uploads from many different companies so is a chance to compare cousin results across companies. |

SORRY, YOU MISSED THIS ONE !
Australian Servicemen - Records,Romance and Marriage Guest Speaker: Cara Downes
Aftermath of World War 1 - The Australian Experience
After four years, the Great War ended in November 1918. For Australians that fought in the war and survived, their battle had not ended. Australia was faced with the largest number of wounded and mentally damaged men in its history and was far from being equipped to assist them. The National Archives is the home of the Veteran’s repatriation files that reveal in many cases what their lives were like after the war. Title War Brides in Australia
As a result of Australia’s involvement in various wars there were many romances between servicemen and women from countries where they were serving and often this lead to marriage. Many of the women they married migrated to Australia and this happened for both WWI and WWII. |

SORRY, YOU MISSED THIS ONE !
DNA with Guest Speaker: Kerry Farmer
I’ve done my DNA test, what’s next?
How do you get better value out of the money you’ve paid for a DNA test? This talk introduces the different DNA tests as well as some of the free tools available at GEDmatch. Combining DNA with traditional genealogy DNA alone does not solve most genealogical “brick walls”, but by combining DNA information with traditional genealogy, problems can be solved that were otherwise impossible. Kerry will be bringing a selection of her books which will be available for purchase on the day, cash only please. |
