The Society Computers
The society computers are set up for family history research only. Using them for personal use, e.g. logging into personal email account or subscription sites like Ancestry or FindMyPast, is NOT permitted. If you need to use your personal accounts, feel free to bring your own device and use the Society’s Wi-Fi to log in.
GCFHS Open Day
Our Society is holding an Open Day on Saturday, the 7 March 2026, from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm.
Feel free to invite your family, friends or anyone you know who may be interested in Family History/Genealogy.
Let them know our rooms will be open free of charge, where they can see how we can help them find their family records & start a family tree. All are welcome.

Computer User Group - Monday, 16 Feb 2026 at 10:00 am
This month's subject is:
Vanishing Relatives and why they are hard to find.
Some ideas and tips on why and how to locate them.
Could members please arrive before 10:00 a.m? You are welcome to BYO lunch and stay until 2:00 p.m. As a weekday event, public transport is an option, and ample parking is still available.
Legacy Group - Sunday, 12 April 2026 at 1:00 - 3:30 pm
The Legacy Family History Software group is about learning and helping one another, so bring along your questions and the group will endeavour to answer them.
Due to Easter, this meeting is being held in the 2nd week of April.
Scottish Group - Sunday, 15 Feb at 1:00 pm
If you have Scottish research, please bring along your questions and research work to discuss with the co-ordinators. Margaret and Fay are incredibly knowledgeable and willing to help fellow members.
DNA Group - Sunday, 22 Feb 2026 at 1:00 pm
Both Julie and Fay will also be on hand to help answer any questions you have about your DNA. Remember to bring your device so you can log in to your DNA data using the Society's Wi-Fi. It is free to all members.

Introduction to Family History & Genealogy

This class is an excellent opportunity for anyone just starting their family history research or for experienced researchers wishing to refresh their skills and learn new techniques.
Bookings are essential.
Cost: Free for members | Non-Members: $10.00, refundable if joining on the day.
