· Wednesday August 4, 2010— Social Research Night hosted by Librarian Heather Wort. Do some research work or help Heather with library work and enjoy some social chit chat. To find out more phone Heather on 5531 3966 or email her at hrwort@bigpond.com. These nights are held the first Wednesday of the month except December and January.

· Next Date TBA— Evening Beginners’ Classes are carried out by Fay Carbis. They start at 7pm. Members are free and non members pay $8 which is deducted from subscription if joining on the night. Phone Fay on 5539 4888 or email her at sec@goldcoastfhs.org.au.

· Wednesday September 15, 2010—Computer Group. This group meets at 7pm. Hosted by Ann Metcher this group discusses all facets of computer use in family history research. These nights are held the third Wednesday of the month. Email Ann at sec@goldcoastfhs.org.au to attend.

· Sunday November 21, 2010— Scottish Group. This group meets at 1pm. On hand to assist you will be Margaret Shand and Margaret Collins, both very knowledgeable ladies. For further information contact Margaret Shand on 5538 1423 or Margaret Collins on 5593 1773.

· Next Date TBA - A Guide to Family History Research - An Introduction to Family History Class conducted by Pam Oldham and Karen Hartley. Commences at 9am and runs for about 3 hours. If you are a new member or just need to brush up consider going to one of these classes. Contact Pam on 5594 0610 if you would like to attend or tell a friend who might be interested in joining our Society. Cost: Members free, Non members $8 (refundable if joining Society).

· Friday August 6, 2010- Family Tree Maker Special Interest Group. This is a popular PC program and used by so many of our members. The group meets at 9.30am on the first Friday of the month excepting January and is hosted by Gay Eunson. For further information contact Gay on 5597 5365 or email at eunson5253@optusnet.com.au.

· Sunday August 1, 2010- Legacy Family Tree User Group. This Legacy software self-help group is convened by Carol Browne and meets every two months on the first Sunday of the month. Cost is just $1 to cover afternoon tea and the group meets from 1.00pm to 3.30pm. For further information email Carol at cbrowne@onthenet.com.au.

· Saturday September 18, 2010 — Annual General Meeting of the Gold Coast Family History Society Inc. will be held at 2pm in Room 3, Bicentennial Community Centre, Nerang/Southport Road Nerang.
